Gluten-free restaurant review: The Rowbarge | Woolhampton

wingdaryl5

Step into The Rowbarge, a historic and charming pub catering to the needs of travellers and locals for centuries. This gem boasts six distinctive rooms, each with unique character, a vast selection of six cask ales, a well-curated wine list, and a wide array of top-shelf malts.

But that's not all that makes The Rowbarge a must-visit destination. With its prime location right on the banks of the picturesque River Kennet, you'll be treated to breathtaking views as you relax in the large garden with a patio area.

Their gluten-free menu is nothing short of exceptional. On a weekday, there are currently six starters and nibbles, thirteen mains—such as Wild boar, pork, parsnip, and cider pie or Pan-fried guinea fowl, fondant potato, and thyme roast roots—and four delicious puddings.

The children's menu is equally impressive, with four of the five mains gluten-free. My eldest daughter went for sausage and chips, which she enjoyed, although the chips were quite chunky, and I think she would've preferred her mother's fries.

My youngest plumped for the pasta dish, which looked very tasty. Although she isn't coeliac, this dish does have a gluten-free version, so I assume they simply swap the pasta and keep that delicious cheesy sauce.

We didn't try any of the puddings, as the girls had already made their mum a treat for Mother's Day, but with its cosy surroundings, a large garden in the summer, plus a menu that changes throughout the seasons, this won't be the last time we visit The Rowbarge in Woolhampton.
